Iguasu Falls to Rio de Janeiro
19 Jan 2006
After breakfast we walked from our hotel onto a paved scenic path overlooking the Iguasu Falls.
Every time we thought we had seen everything a bend of the path offered views of additional falls
gushing huge amounts of water over cliffs we had not seen before.  At the end of the path an elevator
brought us up to the edge of the deep canyon.    Virginia and I were so impressed by the falls that
later in the morning we on our own repeated the walk and extended it.

Shortly after noon we were bused to a gigantic souvenir shop and kept there for an hour before
continuing to the nearby airport.
Our flight to Rio de Janeiro took about two hours including a brief stop at Sao Paulo.  We got some
great aerial views of Sao Paulo and Rio.
On the way from the Rio airport we were bused through parts of the city on our way to the Sheraton
Rio Hotel.  The hotel is located on a cliff with a small beach below, somewhat isolated, about a
fifteen to twenty minute walk from the from the Leblon area with its famous beach, restaurants and
shops.
