After a good breakfast we exchanged fond farewells with our wonderful hosts at the Mandore
Guest House and departed in the taxi Mr. G. had arranged for us. The charge for the taxi was
2200 rupees (about US$50), to which we added a tip of about 10%.
After around fifteen minutes we picked up a friend of the driver, who was coming along for the
ride. An hour or so later we stopped at a roadside stand owned by another friend of our driver
who had a small roadside restaurant and teashop. We had some tea and a small snack while we were
shown some unusual nests built hanging from branches of local trees.

Another couple of hours later we arrived in Ranakpur, where we had lunch and visited the large,
lavishly decorated multi-columned Ranakpur Jain Temple

At about 4:00pm we arrived in the city of Udaipur and checked into the Jagat Niwas Palace
Hotel, a nice atmospheric former mansion on the shore of Lake Pichola, giving us beautiful views
from the hotel's rooftop restaurant. For our small room with bath we paid 700 rupees (US$16)
per night.
