Moscow
7 to 9 June 2008
About noon our cruise ship docked at the riverboat terminal in the northwestern outskirts of
Moscow.   By bus we viewed some of the touristic highlights of the city.
After the bus tour we went on a walking tour of the Kremlin.  The Kremlin is the walled
central area of Moscow containing numerous historic government buildings and churches, as
well as several paved open areas suitable for parades and processions.  The part of the
Kremlin we most enjoyed was the magnificent St. Basil's Cathedral with several beautiful
domes and gables.  Immediately below are several views of that historic church.

In Russia it is customary that on their wedding day the couple and bridal party take a tour
of the
city's leading tourist spots, accompanied by a photographer.  We saw several such
occasions.

The following day, 8 June, Virginia and I explored the central part of Moscow on our own.

On the morning of 9 June we went by bus to Moscow's Sheremetievo Airport for our Finnair
flight to Helsinki, connecting there with another Finnair flight to New York.  The end of our
Russian tour/cruise.
