New York to Amman, Jordan   ---   26 & 27 Feb 2006
At about 6:30pm Sunday, 26 February 2006 we flew from New York's JFK Airport aboard
our EgyptAir flight 986, landing in Cairo about noon the following day.

At Cairo airport we were held in the transit area over five hours for our 5:20pm "connecting"
flight to Amman, Jordan.  At the Cairo airport we came across the following two unusual sights:
Giant metallic globe in center of a traffic
circle at Cairo International Airport.
Cairo airport souvenir shop evoking
an ancient Egyptian boat
Upon arrival at Amman's airport we were met by the representatives of Overseas Adventure
Travel, who bused us to the Amman West Hotel, where we had dinner.   The Amman West Hotel
is on a bleak dark side-street away from shops and restaurants,  seemed almost empty,  and
generally was not up to the standards of tour hotels at which we previously stayed.
