Monte Alban
Monte Alban is an archaeological site consists of the remains of the ancient Zapotec
civilization.     We walked from our hotel to the bus terminalHotel Meson del Angel then took
a half-our ride to Monte Alban.
Monte Alban is located on a hill containing extensive ruins of pyramids, ball courts, tombs,
temples, etc.  built before 1,000AD.    Monte Alban was an important social and religious
center; unfortunately time has taken its toll.  Below are photos showing part of what we saw.

We admired the simplicity of this elevator for the
physically handicapped.   It consists of an open
platform with a low railing,  hoisted by an
electrically operated winch.
