On 14 July we took the 11:00am first class bus to Puebla, arriving there around 3:30pm.
The fare was 216 pesos (US$18.80). Most of our route was on a good four-lane divided toll
road. The countryside we crossed was generally hilly, mostly covered by brush, small trees
and meadows, with occasional farms growing mainly corn.
Upon arriving in Puebla we took a taxi to the Hotel Colonial, an attractive centrally-located
hotel on a quiet pedestrian street. The rate was 570 pesos per day, equivalent to about
US$50. We took a walk in the neighborhood and enjoyed a fine dinner in the hotel's
attractive restaurant.
