We had only one full day in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia and its largest city.
Our city tour first went by bus through suburban areas of Tallinn, where we had nice views
of the sea and visited the not-very-interesting Songfest Stadium. Estonians are known as
good singers, frequently bursting into song and taking part in group singing competitions and
performances.
After the suburban bus tour we went on a walking tour of Tallinn's "Old Town". First we
visited the very ornate Russian Orthodox Dome Church where we saw the priest blessing an
icon with holy water. Then a comparatively plain main Lutheran church and some historic
government buildings including Tallinn's Town Hall.

As in Vilnius and Riga, Tallinn makes extensive
use of trolley buses and streetcars.
Tallinn's newer buildings also have
some interesting architectural details.
In the afternoon Virginia and I explored the town, ran into some of our fellow tourists with
whom we had a pleasant time in a coffeeshop/bar.
In the evening our entire group enjoyed a good dinner in the "Pepper Sack" restaurant.
